NOTES ON BATTERIES AND RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES
-
Batteries/rechargeable batteries do not belong in the hands of children.
-
Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; there is a risk that they could be
swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
-

Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fi re.
There is a risk of explosion!
-
Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion! Only charge
rechargeable batteries that are intended for this purpose; use suitable rechargeable battery
chargers.

INSERTING/REPLACING BATTERIES/RECHARGEABLE
BATTERIES
Open the battery compartment (7) on the back of the device and insert two AA/Mignon batteries,
paying attention to the correct polarity.
Directly after inserting the batteries, the radio alarm clock emits an acoustic signal and attempts
to receive the DCF signal (see also chapter "DCF Reception").
Close the battery compartment (7) again.
The batteries must be replaced if the display contrast fades or if there is no display at all.
 
The use of rechargeable batteries leads to a shorter operating time, because of the lower
voltage and capacity.

DCF RECEPTION
Directly after the battery is inserted, the clock makes a fi rst attempt to receive the DCF signal.
After a successful DCF reception, the clock is automatically set to the current time.
 
The recognition and interpretation of the DCF signal can take 3-5 minutes. Do not move
the clock during this time. Do not press any buttons or switches!
Bad reception can be caused, for example, by metalized insulated glass, reinforced con-
crete buildings, coated special wallpapers, proximity to electronic devices, or installation
in cellars.
If the clock has not adjusted to the current time after 5 minutes, change the location of
the radio alarm clock.
The reception attempts for the daily automatic synchronisation with the DCF time are made sev-
eral times per day (01:00 am, 02:00 am, 03:00 am, 04:00 am, 06:00 am, 09:00 am, 12:00 pm,
03:00 pm, 06:00 pm and 09:00 pm). One successful reception per day is suffi cient to keep the
deviation to less than 1 second.
The DCF signal is encoded and transmitted via a DCF transmitter in Mainfl ingen (near Frankfurt).
Its range is up to 1500 km and, under ideal reception conditions, even up to 2000 km.
