Operation

Operation
WARNING!
Before operating the
tractor, familiarize yourself with
the SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES
in the rider manual starting on
page 3.
To change the angle of the plow, squeeze the
plow release cable lever against the handle and
push forward on the plow adjustment handle
to angle the plow to the left or pull back on the
plow adjustment handle to angle it to the right.
The plow can be angled 30° to the right, 30° to
the left, or straight ahead. Release the handle to
secure into the desired position. See Figure 4-1.
Tip: Adjusting the angle of the blade may be
easier when the blade is in the up position.
Figure 4-1
CAUTION!
It is important that
the plow is locked into position.
After releasing the lever, push or
pull the plow adjustment handle
to be certain the plow is locked
into one of the three positions.
12
To raise or lower the plow, use the plow lift
cable lever. See Figure 4-2.

NOTE: The plow is designed for clearing snow,
leveling soft dirt or sand and other light duty
dozer jobs. The spring trip release protects the
plow, tractor and operator from severe shock
loads when the plow comes in contact with
curbs and other obstacles. Normal use will
eventually cause the shave plate to wear. The
shave plate is reversible and replaceable.
WARNING!
Operate the tractor
at a slow ground speed until
familiar with the operation of the
plow.
CAUTION!
Never operate the
tractor at high speeds. A collision
with a hidden obstacle may
damage the plow cutting edge
and unseat the driver.
WARNING!
Exercise caution
while operating tractor with this
attachment, especially when
traveling in reverse.
1.
Pushing snow — Adjust the skid shoes
so the plow cutting edge just clears the
surface to be plowed. In large open flat
areas, the tractor can be operated at
medium speed.
NOTE: See the Maintenance &
Adjustments section for instructions for
adjusting the skid shoes.
2.
Light grading — For light grading and
spreading soil, sand, gravel, etc., adjust
the shoes so they are even with the
cutting edge. Control the plow position
with the plow lift lever. Operate the
tractor at slow or medium speed.
3.
Heavy grading — For heavy grading of
soil, sand, gravel, etc., adjust the shoes so
they are slightly above the cutting edge.
Control the plow position with the plow
lift lever. Operate the tractor at slow
speed.
4.
Terracing — For terracing, adjust
the shoes so they are approximately
1/4" or more above the cutting edge,
depending on the rate of plow
penetration desired. Angle the plow
away from the trench cut by the plow.
Control the plow depth with the plow lift
lever. Operate the tractor at slow speed.
Once the desired angle of the terrace is
achieved, level the plow and continue
grading until the desired terrace depth
or width is obtained.
