5.2.4 Shortening high-voltage cables

Warning:
-
Installation shall be carried out by a skilled electrical engineer.
-
Disconnect the power supply before carrying out work on the unit.
High voltage cables of ionisation equipment may be shortened.
However, the metal conduit must not be shortened by the customer.
Shielded coax cable must be finished as shown in Figure 6.
In the case of blue high-voltage cables, the end of the cable must be finished as shown in
Figure 7.
Note:
-
Do not damage the layers of insulation underneath!
-
When you are stripping high-voltage cables, do not bend them by a radius sharper
than 45 mm. Sharper bends will shorten the service life of the cable!
Figure 5: Stripping the cable sheath
General instructions for stripping the cable sheath correctly:
-
You should ideally use a specialised cable knife or a sharp knife to strip the cable.
-
Avoid bending cables sharply while you are working on them.
A Cut around the sheath at the desired length, without touching or damaging the shielding or
the layer underneath.
B Cut the sheath along this length, without touching or damaging the shielding or the layer
underneath.
C To remove the sheath, pull it apart up to the cut around its circumference and then pull off
the exterior sheath.
