The Bearing Handling Tool consists of two handles and two steel
bands. The steel bands are placed around the bearing to be lifted.
Rotating the handles changes the length of the steel bands. Reducing
the length of the steel bands enables them to grip the bearing firmly.
The Bearing Handling Tool and bearing are lifted as one complete
unit. When lifting with a crane, two equal length slings are fitted to the
handle.

The Bearing Handling Tool is designed to lift a range of bearings in a
safe and efficient manner.
Large size and heavy bearings are difficult to handle. Handling with
lifting devices reduces the risk of accidents and damage to the
bearings. Bearings are normally lifted the conventional way using
slings or similar equipment. Specific lifting devices that are suitable
for a particular bearing size are also used.
The Bearing Handling Tool grips the bearing on the outer ring
circumference, with both handles positioned opposite each other.
To suit different bearing diameters the tool can be adjusted within the
pre-determined range.
The Bearing Handling Tool is used for the complete handling
operation. If the bearing requires heating on an SKF induction heater,
normally there is no need to remove the Bearing Handling Tool from
the bearing during this operation.
