nection of the power supply unit supplied
2 Safety Notes
The units (mixer and power supply unit) corre-
spond to all relevant directives of the EU and are
therefore marked with
.
WARNING The power supply unit is supplied
with hazardous mains voltage.
Leave servicing to skilled person-
nel only. Inexpert handling or
modification of the unit may cause
an electric shock hazard.
It is essential to observe the following items:
G
The units are suitable for indoor use only. Pro-
tect them against dripping water and splash
water, high air humidity, and heat (admissible
ambient temperature range 0 – 40 °C).
G
Do not place any vessels filled with liquid, e. g.
drinking glasses, on the units.
G
The heat being generated in the mixer must
be carried off by air circulation. Therefore, the
air vents at the housing must not be covered.
G
Do not set the mixer into operation, or imme-
diately disconnect the mains plug of the power
supply unit from the mains socket if
1. there is visible damage to the mixer, the
power supply unit or to the mains cable,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or
similar accident,
3. malfunctions occur.
The units must in any case be repaired by
skilled personnel.
G
A damaged mains cable at the power supply
unit must only be replaced by skilled person-
nel.
G
Never pull the mains cable to disconnect the
mains plug from the mains socket, always
seize the plug.
G
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, never
use chemicals or water.
G
No guarantee claims for the units and no lia-
bility for any resulting personal damage or
material damage will be accepted if the units
are used for other purposes than originally
intended, if they are not correctly connected or
operated, or not repaired in an expert way.
G
Important for U. K. Customers!
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in
ac cordance with the following code:
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of
this appliance may not correspond with the
coloured markings identifying the terminals in
your plug, proceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured blue must be
connected to the terminal which is marked
with the letter N or coloured black.
2. The wire which is coloured brown must be
connected to the terminal which is marked
with the letter L or coloured red.
If the units are to be put out of operation
definitively, take them to a local recy-
cling plant for a disposal which is not
harmful to the environment.
3 Applications
This mixer designed as a tabletop unit is suited
for sound mixing used for PA applications and
recording applications. The unit is equipped with
6 input channels – 4 × mono, 2 × stereo – for
connection of (phantom-powered) microphones
and audio sources with line output level such as
musical instruments, CD players. Via insert
jacks in the mono channels, units for sound pro-
cessing can be inserted. A send way (signal
pick-up "post-fader") allows for the use of an
effect unit which may be connected via a mono
send output and an adjustable stereo return
input. In addition, a reproducing input and a
recording output for a recorder are available and
monitoring outputs for connection of head-
phones and a monitor system in a separate con-
trol room.
4 Connection
Prior to connecting any units or to changing any
existing connections, switch off the mixer or set
the output controls PHONES / CONTROL ROOM
(18) and MAIN MIX (25) to minimum.
4.1 Microphones
Connect microphones via XLR or 6.3 mm plugs
to the balanced jacks MIC (1) of the mono chan-
nels 1 to 4. The XLR connection has a latching.
To pull out the XLR plug, press the PUSH lever
at the jack.
If required, it is possible to centrally activate a
48 V phantom power for condenser microphones:
With the button PHANTOM (21) pressed, a phan-
tom power is applied to all microphone inputs (to
the XLR connections as well as to the 6.3 mm
connections of the jacks MIC). With activated
phantom power, the LED +48V (23) lights up
during operation.
CAUTION
G
When the phantom power is activated, no
microphones with unbalanced output must
be connected. These microphones could be
damaged.
G
To prevent switching noise, only actuate the
button PHANTOM when the mixer is
switched off or when the controls PHONES /
CONTROL ROOM and MAIN MIX are set to
minimum.
