5. USE
ATTENTION:
If a niche under the fireplace is being used as firewood
storage, never block it completely (a front opening with a
section of at least 600 cm² must remain free at all times).
Leave a space of at least 5 cm between the bottom of
the fireplace and the top of the logs.
To avoid burns, do not touch the appliance and use
the grippers to operate the controls.
Heat emitted through the vitro ceramic makes it necessary
to keep any material that could be damaged by heat
(furniture, wallpaper, carpentry, etc.) away from the hearth.
A 2 m clearance will avoid any risk.
FUEL
Wood
This high-performance appliance requires good quality fuel.
Only burn air-dried logs (2 to 3 years, stored in a sheltered and
well-ventilated place) with a maximum moisture content of 15 to
20%.
Preferably hardwoods (birch, hornbeam, beech, etc.).
Avoid softwoods (lime, chestnut, willow, poplar).
Continuous use of resinous wood (pine, fir, etc.) as well as
treated wood (railway sleepers, carpentry offcuts, etc.) and
household waste (vegetable or plastic) is absolutely prohibited.
Never use bundles of kindling, wooden boxes, woodchips or
vine shoots that could lead to sudden overheating.
CAUTION:
The use of coal or its derivatives is strictly
prohibited, even on an occasional basis. This appliance
must not be used to burn domestic waste.
DRAUGHT
The hot draught in the chimney flue must never be greater than
20 Pa. Ask your dealer to measure the draught during the
installation of the flue. If the combustion air is not connected, any
use of controlled mechanical ventilation (CMV) may influence the
draught, even reversing it. For this reason, the extractor must be
running during measurement of the draught.

USE OF THE FAN (DEPENDING ON OPTION)
With natural convection, hot air builds up on the ceiling. The fan
kit circulates the ambient air to ensure a pleasant, even
temperature in the room.

II High, continuous high air flow. I Comfort, circulates
the hot air silently.
Refer to fan manual.
LIGHTING FOR THE FIRST TIME
- To light the fire from above, place 2 split logs in the hearth and
criss-cross a layer of kindling on top of the logs. Place a firelighter
on top of the wood and light it.
- To light it quickly from below, put down some crumpled paper,
then kindling on top and small pieces of wood on top of the
kindling.
Set the controls to the Light position (Table *). Light the fuel, close
the door and wait for embers to form. Once the fire is lit, load in
some wood and set the controls to the «nominal output» position,
Table (*). Lay the logs (at least 2 logs at the same time) towards
the back of the fireplace. It is best to load in the wood several
times rather than all at once.
If the outside temperature is very low, a heat «plug» may form
inside the flue.
The flue pipe must be heated up gradually until it reaches
the normal draught rate.
OPERATION
Lighting the fire
To light your appliance, preferably follow the fire lighting
procedure described above. This fire lighting technique makes it
possible to heat up the flue and to remove any blockages
(negative pressure) that may form when the weather is bad or
cold, thereby preventing the air from blowing back into the room
when the fire is lit.
The procedure is as follows:
- Put the air combustion control to the maximum setting.
- Place 2 logs on the firebox grid.
- Place the kindling wood in the shape of a tower on top of the
logs.
- Place 1 or 2 firelighters on top of the wood and light
them.
- Close the door.

TAKE NOTE: Never use petrol, alcohol or fuel-oil, etc.
Refuel
Refuel the appliance once there is a good bed of embers and the
flames have gone out. Gently open the loading door, to prevent
fumes from getting out (if opening during the combustion stage)
or embers from falling. Once the wood has been loaded, close
the door.
ATTENTION:
Opening the door while there is still
burning fuel inside may cause flames and smoke to
escape.
Nominal output
Adjust the controls according to the table (*). The intensity of the
fire will be determined by the amount of fuel. The correct
operation of the appliance depends on a suitable air supply.
NOMINAL LOAD
A minimum of 2 logs of wood (approx. 2.8 kg/h) is required to
produce nominal output. Place the wood towards the back of the
hearth to prevent embers from falling. Whenever possible, do not
refuel the hearth until there is a good bed of embers and the
flames have gone out. It is best to load in the wood several times
rather than all at once. Too much fuel will cause the appliance to
overheat and damage it.
