Levamed
active
Intended purpose
Levamed active is a bandage for
compression of the soft tissue in the
ankle joint with additional functional
elements.
Indications
All indications which call for soft tissue
compression with additional local
cushion support on the ankle and where
movement is limited in at least one
direction of mobilisation via additional
functional elements, such as:
• Sprains with capsule strain
• Chronic ligament instability with
recurrent sprained ankle (twisted
ankle)
• In the second treatment phase for
upper ankle lateral collateral ligament
rupture
• Conservative treatment of syndesmo-
sis ligament injury which does not
require surgery
Contraindications
None known at present.
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause
local pressure sores or constriction of
blood vessels or nerves. Therefore you
should consult the doctor treating you
before you use it if the following
circumstances apply to you:
• Condition or injury of the skin in the
area of application, particularly with
infectious indications (excessive heat,
swelling or reddening)
• Paraesthesia and circulatory disorders
(e.g. as seen in diabetes, varicose veins)
• Lymph drainage disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue adjacent to the
area of application which is not related
to a condition
When wearing snug-fitting aids, this can
result in localised skin inflammation or
irritation that is due to mechanical
irritation of the skin (particularly in
conjunction with sweating) or due to the
composition of the material.
Intended patient groups
Healthcare professionals should provide
care to the adults and children, applying
the available information on the
measurements/sizes and necessary
functions/indications and in line with
the information provided by the
manufacturer, and acting under their
own responsibility.
Note on wearing
The brace achieves its greatest effect
during physical activity. In general, the
brace can be worn all day. However, this
should be done according to your
comfort. During longer breaks (e.g.
prolonged sitting / road trips, sleeping),
the brace should be removed.
Application / removal
• Take hold of the top of the bandage on
both sides and pull it over your foot
until the heel part is sitting correctly
and the silicone inserts are positioned
around the ankle. (Fig. 1)
• Place the attached strap on the floor in
front of you, with the side with the
footprint on it facing up. (Fig. 2)
• Now position your foot on the symbol
so that the strap runs under the middle
