Cleaning instructions for CRI/CRIN
and CRI
Piezo xxx
!
Do not clean the nozzle cone with a brass brush,
steel brush or the like as this would damage the
injection orifices. Do not clean injection orifices
with the nozzle cleaning tool 0 986 611 140. Do
not clean the electrical connection of the injector
with cold cleaning agent.
1. Seal the inlet connection, test oil return connec-
tion and nozzle cone of the injector with protective
caps, or cover them.
2. Use a plastic brush to remove any coarse dirt on
the injector.
3. Pre-clean the injector with cold cleaning agent.
!
Use the cleaning agent Tickopur TR 13 or a compa-
rable corrosion and coke-dissolving cleaning agent
for ultrasonic cleaning.
4. Remove the protective cap from the nozzle cone.
5. Attach the injector to a suitable holding device and
immerse it in the ultrasonic bath until the nozzle
retaining nut is completely covered by the cleaning
agent.
6. Set a cleaning temperature of 60 °C to 70 °C.
7. After approx. 15 min, take the injector out of the
ultrasonic bath and blow dry with compressed air.
i
After cleaning, always store injectors in a clean,
closed container. This prevents the injectors from
coming into contact with dirt particles (e.g. fluff
and swarf).
i
Also heed the additional cleaning information in the
ESI[tronic] 2.0 component repair instructions.

CRI Piezo
WARNING – Risk of injury!
If the hydraulic connections for the testing
equipment and the injectors are not set up
properly, test oil can escape at high pres-
sure during the test or parts of the testing
equipment can burst. This can cause injury
or damage to property.
¶
Prior to switching on, check that all hose
assemblies have been properly connected
to the EPS 118 and the injector.
¶
Replace any leaking and defective hose
assemblies.
WARNING – Risk of hand injuries!
Uncontrolled closing of the protective hood
can lead to crushing or finger injury.
¶
Always close the protective hood using
the handle.
WARNING – Risk of burns from hot sur-
faces!
Contact with hot components and the hot
test equipment (e.g. injector) may cause
severe burns.
¶
Allow the components and test equip-
ment to cool down.
¶
Wear protective gloves.
DANGER – Risk of fatal injury from elec-
tromagnetic fields!
The high voltages at the piezo CRI (char-
ging of the actuators) and at the adapter
cables are a source of potential fatal injury
for persons wearing pace-makers are im-
planted defibrillators.
¶
Piezo CRI testing may not be performed
by persons with pace-makers are implan-
ted defibrillators.
!
Do not check any damaged and/or severely corro-
ded components.
!
Use only for EPS 118 approved accessories. Using
accessories not intended for the EPS 118 can
result in incorrect measurements and thus a faulty
evaluation of the injector.
