MATERIALS
A 1 Towbar Mainframe with international facing to ISO 3853 (BS AU114)
F 4 M10 x 30mm Bolts, Lock Washers and Flat Washers (40mm O.D.)
CB 2 M16 x 50 Coupling Bolts, Nuts and Lock Washers
Z 1 ZEP35 Electrical plate (not shown)
FITTING
1. Remove bumper (4 screws behind covers on top, 3 screws underneath/5 screws on Vento) and, if fitted, chassis
end caps. GOLF: Locate the dotted marking inside bumper and cut aperture, as shown. (NOTE: It is not
necessary to remove all the aperture.)
VENTO: Inside bumper locate the dotted marking, and measure 36mm inboard of right hand edge to locate
centre line. Cut slot 45mm wide from bumper edge to change in section, as shown.
2. Offer towbar into chassis. Attach using Bolts and Flat washers (F) and tighten. Replace bumper by manoeuvring over
faceplate.
NOTE: Late models of Golf have a metal inner bumper shell fitted. This should be removed and retained in case of
possible future removal of towbar.
Please refer to vehicle handbook for maximum permissible trailer weight. Volkswagen recommended additional cooling
for arduous towing conditions – please consult the handbook.
Recommended torque settings: M8 - 27Nm, M10 - 53 Nm, M12 - 95 Nm , M14 - 150 Nm, M16 - 214 Nm
