MATERIALS
A 1 Towbar Mainframe
C 1 Centre Tube with 2 bolt faceplate with European facing 94/20/EC – A50-1
D 4 M10 x 30mm Bolts, Lock Washers and Large Flat Washers (40mm O.D.)
E 2 Side Mounting Plates (1 off each hand)
E1 2 M8 x 25mm Bolts, Lock Washers and Flat Washers (25mm O.D.)
F 2 M16 x 40mm Bolts, Nuts and Lock Washers
CB 2 M16 x 50mm Coupling Bolts, Nuts, Lock Washers
BC 2 M16 Bolt Caps
Z 1 ZEP35 Electrical plate (not shown)
FITTING
1. Remove bumper skin, inner steel reinforcing pressing and rear metal valance.
2. Cut holes in rear panel to gain access to inside of chassis (as shown below), cut off lug on lower edge of spare
wheel pan, and remove grommets from underside of chassis (2 on left and 3 on right).
3. Slide towbar mainframe (A) into ends of chassis, loosely attach side mounting plates (E) to mainframe (A) using
bolts (E1) and also over existing studs on rear panel. (Note: Plates E are not used on 2000 onward vehicles as
they are not official mounting points).
4. Attach mainframe (A) to vehicle chassis using bolts (D) through existing grommet holes in underside of chassis,
and tighten all bolts. NOTE: It is essential to remove all mastic from mounting/bolt seating faces.
5. Refit lower valance and bumper reinforcing. (Ensure that side mounting plates (E) are sandwiched between rear
panel and bumper reinforcing). Also refit bumper skin.
6. Attach centre tube (C) to mainframe (A) using bolts (F), tighten all bolts and fit bolt caps provided.
Note: This towbar must be used with either a Witter Towball (part number Z1) or Class A50-1 or A50-X towball dimensionally
Conforming to A50-1 with a 'D' and 'S' value greater than or equal to that of the towbar.
Please refer to the vehicle specification for the trailer weight and nose limits, which must be observed.
Recommended torque settings: M8 - 27Nm, M10 - 53 Nm, M12 - 95 Nm , M14 - 150 Nm, M16 - 214 Nm
