8. INCIDENTS, CAUSES AND REMEDIES
Make sure that the pump is switched off.
ATTENTION !
INCIDENTS
8.1. THE PUMP'S FLOW RATE IS
ZERO
8.2. THE KLIXONS HAVE
DISABLED THE PUMP
8.3 THE MOTOR WILL NOT
START; THE MOTOR'S
CONTACT BREAKER HAS
TRIPPED
8.4 THE MOTOR WILL START
BUT
THE
MOTOR
CONTACT BREAKER TRIPS
SHORTLY AFTERWARDS
8.5 THE MOTOR WILL RUN
BUT THERE IS ZERO FLOW
RATE
8.6 THE PUMP IS RUNNING
JERKILY AND MAKES A
LOT OF NOISE
8.7 THE MOTOR WILL RUN,
BUT IS EXCEEDING THE
ELECTRICITY
CONSUMPTION AND
DISCHARGE FLOW LIMITS
CAUSES
a) The pump is sucking in air
because the level of liquid is
too low :
b) The pump is running against an
isolating cushion of air :
a) Foreign bodies in the pump :
High density fluid (e.g. sand) :
a) supply – short circuit or ground
fault :
b) The wrong fuses are tripping :
c) The impeller is jammed by a
foreign body :
a) The motor contact breaker's
thermal release is not correctly
set :
b) Difference in voltage between
the 3-phases :
c) Incorrect direction of rotation :
d) The impeller is being impeded
by a foreign body, increasing
the electricity consumption :
e) The fluid's density is too high :
a) The suction line is blocked :
b) Faulty line :
c) No fluid to transport :
a) The pump is not being used
properly :
b) The impeller isn't moving much :
c) Unacceptable gas content in
the fluid transported :
d) Two-phase operation :
e) Incorrect direction of rotation :
f) Wearing of internal parts :
g) Faulty motor bearing :
a) The suction line or the impeller
is fouled :
b) The impeller isn't moving much :
c) Incorrect direction of rotation :
d) Air in the piping or in the pump :
e) The pump is struggling against
too high a pressure :
f) Valve in the closed position :
g) Wearing of the pump's parts :
h) Faulty line :
a) Check the Level indicator / float switch.
Check the good level (See FIG. 1 - 2).
b) Purge by the non-return valve. Check the bleed hole (See FIG. 1 -
item 13). Or lift the pump of a few centimetres to evacuate the air.
a) Lift the pump out of the sump.
Remove foreign bodies from the pump.
a) The main supply and the motor must be checked by a specialist and
replace it if necessary.
b) Arrange the fuses according to the technical data.
c) Clear access to the impeller.
a) Have a specialist compare the thermal release setting with the
technical instructions and adjust it.
b) Check the relay's fuses and contacts and replace them if necessary.
c) Swap the mains line's 2 phases.
d) Clear access to the impeller and clean the nozzle.
e) Contact the After-sale service.
a) Clean the suction line.
b) Replace the faulty parts.
c) Open the supply line or the valve.
a) Check the machine's technical data, correct them if necessary
and/or adjust the operating conditions.
b) Clear access to the impeller and clean the nozzle.
c) Contact the After-sale service.
d) Have the connection checked by a specialist technician and
replace the faulty fuses.
e) Swap the mains line's 2 phases.
f) Replace the worn parts.
g) Contact the After-sale service.
a) Clean the line or the impeller.
b) Clear access to the impeller and clean the nozzle.
c) Swap the mains line's 2 phases.
d) Bleed the piping and the pump .
Check the valve in the pressure line, open it fully if necessary, use
another impeller, contact the After-sale service.
e) Check the valve in the discharge line, open it fully if necessary, use
another impeller, contact the After-sale service.
f) Open the valve fully.
g) Replace the worn parts.
h) Replace the faulty parts.
