3. Mounting and Installing
The signal towers are to be installed in conformity with current editions of the appropriate parts of DIN EN 60079 for zones
with a gas-explosion hazard and DIN EN 61241 for dust-explosion hazard zones or in accordance with equivalent IEC speci-
fications.

Applicable national constructor provisions are to be observed in the case of all work on the signal tower.
In the case of work in explosion-hazard areas, the safety of persons and equipment depends upon adherence to all of the
relevant safety regulations. The following is to be observed:

The signal tower may only be connected to the electricity
supply by a suitably authorized person. During each ope-
ning of the housing it has to be ensured that no voltage is
supplied to the device.
Do not open when there is an explosive atmosphere!
By loosening of the four recessed head screws in the co-
ver of the housing it can be lifted off. The fastening drill
holes of the housing are then accessible. Mounting can be
achieved by means of these fastening drill holes. The moun-
ting position is arbitrary.
The best method of installing the signal tower is to mount it
at its final location using bolts or similar fixing materials.
To ensure the protection degree IP65 of the housing during
continuous use, cable screw-connections of the following types are
to be used.
Hummel HSK-K-Ex M20x1,5 conformance certificates EEx e II KEMA Ex-
93.C.9125 and EEx e II DMT 02 ATEX E 047 X
Explosion protected cable screw-connection for an admissible
temperature range from -20°C ... +95°C,
equipped with an O-ring and a degree of protection of IP66.

Alternative seal inserts:
- sealing range 6,5 – 12 mm, Hummel art.-no.: 1.291.2000.30
- sealing range 5 – 9 mm, Hummel art.-no.: 1.291.2000.31

During installation it is to be ensured that the connection lines are protected from tension and torsion. The cables and lines
are to be selected with regard to the surface temperatures occurring and to their protected installation. The sealing area of
the cable screw connection is to be noted. The temperature at the cable entry point does not exceed 70°C.
The signal tower is intended for fixed mounting.
During closing of the housing care is to be taken to ensure a clean and undamaged gasket. Only in that way the
explosion-proofing of the housing can be ensured.
The closing bolts of the housing are to be tightened crosswise.
