This Installation and Short User's Guide is intended for experienced trained specialists and con-

tains only the most important information concerning the assembly, installation and function of the
PSM MID measuring module for CMC III (subsequently called PSM MID measuring module).

Safety instructions
– Assembly and installation of the device may only be performed by experienced trained special-
ists.
– A mains power connection or a mains power wiring as part of the PSM MID measuring module
wiring must only be performed by an experienced electrician.
– The PSM MID measuring module housing must not be opened.
– The PSM MID measuring module may not come in contact with water, aggressive or inflammable
gases and vapours.
– The PSM MID measuring module must be operated only within the specified operating conditions
as well as the conditions specified for the power supply (see section 3.4).

Product description
3.1
Functional description
The PSM MID measuring module is an energy meter that can be deployed for the MID-conform
measurement of individual 16/32 A consumers for energy billing purposes. For this task, the meas-
uring module provides two mutually independent circuits with separate 3-phase energy measure-
ment. It can be easily integrated in the 482.6 mm (19") level of an IT rack and connected using the
appropriate connection cables. The PSM MID measuring module can be connected to a CMC III
Processing Unit using a CAN bus interface.
3.2
Proper use
The PSM MID measuring module is deployed, in particular, for the MID-conform measurement of
individual 16/32 A consumers for energy billing purposes. It is designed for operation in computer
centres (IT environment). This means a billing of the reactive energy and general billing is not per-
mitted after expiration of the calibration end date printed on the measuring module.
