and then tighten the chuck jaws by the chuck
key 3.
SMOOTH ELECTRONIC RPM CON-
TROL
Light pressure on ON/OFF switch 4 results in
low rotation speed, further pressing the switch
results in smooth increase of the rpm to maxi-
mum upon reaching the extreme position.
WARNING: Always start cutting the
thread at low rpm.
AUTOMATIC REVERSING THE ROTA-
TION DIRECTION DURING OPERATION
(fig.4
)
The tapper is equipped with a changeover gear
for switching the rotation direction during opera-
tion. Upon starting the machine the rotation is
clockwise. When the depth gauge touches the
workpiece, pull the machine gently backwards
without releasing the ON/OFF switch 4 to actu-
ate the reversing mechanism, resulting in rota-
tion in anti-clockwise direction. You can release
the ON/OFF switch 4 after the tap is already out
of the workpiece.
AUXILIARY HANDLE
Tighten the auxiliary handle 6 on the tapper jour-
nal (Fig. 5). In the interests of safety, the auxil-
iary handle 6 should always be used. The depth
gauge 7 can be used for fixing the depth of the
tapped thread. (Fig.6).
WARNING: When the thread depth
has been adjusted with the depth gauge pull
back the machine immediately after the depth
gauge touches the workpiece. Otherwise the
tap will continue cutting for approx. another 5
mm and only then rotation will stop.
RECOMMENDATIONS fOR
OPERATION
Adjust the intended thread depth by the depth
gauge.
Grease the tap with a suitable lubricant prior to
using it.
Use only machine taps with square shanks.
Use machine taps with spiral flutes for tapping
blind holes to facilitate chips breakage and
clearance.
Original instructions
To avoid breaking the tap, please observe the
following:
- Pre-drill the tap hole with the correct diam-
eter for the intended thread.
- Always use undamaged and well sharpened
taps.
- Guide the tapper axial to the tap hole.
- Do not apply excessive pressure on the ma-
chine when operating. Feed the tap gently into
the material.
