1. Description

The Weller WFE 2S is a volume fume extraction system ideally suited to a continuous
industrial operation environment. (it is not suitable for use as a tip extraction system.)
A powerful, maintenance free turbine combined with a digital electronic speed control
system ensures ease of use and low maintenance costs. The digital electronic speed
control system provides air movement which is continuously variable from 30 m
to 230 m 3 /h. Two DN 40 intake flanges are fitted to the top of the unit for connection
to pipe work systems. The WFE 2S is fitted with a three stage filter system, pre filter
(F5), sub micron filter (H13) and wide band gas filter, specifically designed to deal
with solder fumes. In its delivered state this filter system ensures a degree of
separation of 99.95 % i.a.w to DIN 24184 for a particle size of 0.3 µm. The differential
pressure inside the unit is measured constantly and a red LED display is illuminated
when the unit senses that a filter change is required. Under normal running conditions
a green light is displayed. The system can be controlled manually at the unit or
remotely via an RS 232 interface. An hours run counter and a speed limiting control
are available as optional extras.

3. Safety regulations

The following safety regulations must be adhered to in order to protect personnel
from damaging their health and against electrical shocks, injuries, fire and the danger

b The user is responsible for maintaining the work area within legal
pollutant levels.
b The WFE 2S must be operated in a safe working condition.
b The WFE 2S must not be modified.

Safety in the workplace
b Keep the working area tidy to avoid an increased danger of accidents.
b Unauthorised personnel are not permitted in the work place.
b All operating instruction and safety regulations must be complied with
at all times.
b Any equipment to be used must be in a safe working condition.
b The working area must be laid out in an ergonomically correct manner.
b Incorrect working practice will cause ergonomic injury.
Personnel requirement conditions
b Only qualified and therefore authorised personnel are permitted to operate the WFE2S
b Personnel protective clothing must comply with the technical safety regulations
applicable to the workplace, this includes:
– Protective clothing
– Safety goggles
– Breathing mask
– Ear protectors
– Industrial safety gloves
b The warning information and the safety information data sheet provided by the
manufacturer of the adhesive must be adhered to when preparing the adhesives.
b Protect yourself against splashes of solder, as there is a danger of being burnt
by the liquid solder.
Electrical tools
b The mains cable must only be plugged into the mains socket or adaptor
provided especially for this purpose.
b DO not use this cable for any other purposes than what it was designed for.
b Electrical tools must always be cleaned carefully.
