MTS Reversing Loop Module
THE PRODUCT
The MTS Reversing Loop Module
simplifies wiring reversing loops
on Multi-Train System layouts. To
avoid short circuits caused by
reversing loops, the MTS Revers-
ing Loop Module recognizes a
short circuit in the reversing loop.
Before the overload protection of
the MTS Central Station is acti-
vated, the MTS Reversing Loop
Module reverses the polarity with-
in the reversing loop. The MTS
Reversing Loop Module is weath-
er resistant.
Attention! Use this product only
with the LGB Multi-Train System.
THE PROGRAM
With this product, we recommend
the following items:
- 10152 Insulated Track, Double,
150 mm
- 11152 Insulated Track, Double,
R1
- 51230 Blue/Red 2-Wire Cable,
15 m
For information on the complete
LGB program, see the LGB cata-
log.
INSTALLATION
1. Build your reversing loop with
an electrically insulated track
block within the reversing loop.
Both rails of the tracks must be
insulated at both ends of the
block.
Hint: Use the 10152 and 11152
insulated track sections (not
included) to create the insulated
track block. LGB insulated track
sections are equipped with termi-
nals to facilitate track power con-
nections.
Attention! The insulated track
block must be longer than the
longest distance between metal
wheelsets on your trains.
2. On the reversing loop module,
there is a twelve-pole connector
(Fig. 1):
- Connect both rails inside the
reversing loop block with the ter-
minals marked "a2" and "b2"
and
"Kehrschleife/Reversing
Loop."
- Connect both rails outside the
reversing loop with the terminals
marked "a1" and "b1" and
"Hauptgleis/Main Track."
- In both cases, the polarity of the
connections does not matter.
Hints:
- Proper wiring and good connec-
tions are very important. Other-
wise, the reversing loop module
can be triggered erroneously by
decreases in voltage due to high
resistance.
- Each of the three terminals a1,
b1, a2 and b2 are electrically
connected. You can use these
terminals to connect 55025 MTS
Switch Decoders, 55075 MTS
Train Detection Modules and
similar devices.
Attention! Do not connect 55025
MTS Switch Decoders to the
tracks inside the reversing loop
block or to the terminals a2 and
b2. Data may be lost during track
power reversals. Connect switch
decoders to the tracks outside the
reversing loop block or to termi-
nals a1 and b1.
OPERATION
The MTS Reversing Loop Module
works automatically.
Attention! Before the MTS Cen-
tral Station is switched on (also
after an emergency stop or a
short circuit), make sure no locos
or cars with metal wheels and
internal wiring are bridging the
insulated track sections. Remove
these trains before turning on the
MTS Central Station.
Power Supply
Attention! For safety and reliabil-
ity, operate this product with LGB
power supplies (transformers,
power packs and controls) only.
The use of non-LGB power sup-
plies will void your warranty.
For more information on LGB
power supplies for indoor, outdoor
and multi-train operation, see the
LGB catalog.
