1. Description

The WPHT and WPH80T soldering iron systems extend the function of the standard
safety holder by adding a switching function, which is analysed by the soldering
station. A micro-switch has been integrated in the switching holder, which is activated
when the soldering iron is picked up or put down.

If the switching holder is plugged into a digital WELLER soldering station, automatic
recognition occurs and this extends the normal functional range (depending on the
application) for temperature reduction or the valve controller (WAD101 only).

2. Commissioning

Ensure that the soldering station being used is switched off.
Plug the 6/7-pin plug (9) on the connecting cable into the soldering station and lock
it in place. Place the soldering iron (6) in the switching holder (5) and plug it onto the
6/7-pin coupler (7) and lock it in place. Switch on the soldering station (1).
A WAD101 controller is required to operate the switching holder with the WSP80IG
inert gas soldering iron. The 400-kpa (58psi) inert gas supply is connected to the rear
of the unit (2). The hose connection for the soldering iron is connected to the
connection nipple (8) on the front side (see WAD101 operating manual as well).

3. Temperature reduction (setback)

Two different operating states can be selected for a temperature reduction of the
soldering bit down to 150°C (300°F).
Procedure:
The soldering station is switched off.
Hold down the "UP" key (3) during switching on (1) until:

„OFF" is displayed on the screen

„ON" is displayed on the screen
Release the key (The setting is saved after changing to the temperature display)
Repeat the procedure to switch back.

4. Valve controller

(WAD101 only, for operating a soldering iron using inert gas)
If the switching holder is being used as the valve controller, it must first be set up at
the soldering station via the software:
Procedure:
The soldering station is switched off.
Hold down the „DOWN" key (4) during switching on (1) until:
„A-1" is displayed on the screen
„A-0" is displayed on the screen
Release the key (The setting is saved after changing to the temperature display)
Repeat the procedure to switch back.
Temperature reduction occurs immediately
after the soldering bit is put down
Temperature reduction occurs after 20min.
(automatically off after 60min)
Different setback times can be set
with WCB1/2.
Valve controller switched on
The valve is controlled through the switching
holder by the ON/OFF function.
(The setback function is „OFF" in this
operating state and cannot be used.)
