Battery saving
If the UNITEST CHB 7 or CHB 37 Clamp Meter remains unused
for 30 minutes, it automatically switches off. The "
re-activates the instrument. This function prevents the battery
discharging completely if the instrument is accidentally left
switched on. The function is turned off if a button (4,5 or 8) is
pushed during turning the clamp-on ammeter on.
Relative value measurement
The UNITEST CHB 7 and CHB 37 Clamp Meters have a relative
value function. If, during a measurement, the "
pressed, the value of a subsequent measurement is shown relative
to the first value.
4.0 Operation
4.1 Preparation and safety measures
Fitting the battery
Before using the instrument, the battery must be fitted. This is
carried out as follows:
4Separate the instrument from any circuit, and remove the test
leads.
4Open the housing by removing the 3 screws on the rear face.
4Fit a battery (type 9 V IEC 6LR61), taking care that the polarity
is correct. Make sure that no wires are trapped between the 2
halves of the housing, and close it again.
4The instrument is now ready for use.
• The selector switch must be turned to the desired type of
measurement before the probes are connected to the unit under
test (UUT).
• Before switching to a new function, the probes must always be
removed from the UUT.
• Use the instrument only in clean and dry surroundings. Dirt and
moisture reduce the effectiveness of the insulation, with
consequent danger of electric shock, especially when dealing
with high voltages.
• Use the instrument only in the specified ranges.
