To access the safety thermostat it is necessary
to dislodge the door closing the machine's
left flank, which must be absolutely put
back in place right afterwards.
5.8 SPECIFIC SERVICING FOR GAS-
HEATED MACHINES
Daily servicing
Ensure that all the components on the gas
line are in perfect condition (pipes, shutoff
valves etc. )
Make sure that no unusual noise is produced
by the combustion at the time of ignition/
operation.
Regular servicing by skilled personnel
WARNING
The general maintenance procedures and
daily inspection described on section 8.3
are nonetheless applicable.
Check that the machine is fed with the
correct gas type and pressure.
Ensure that the gas-leading line is in perfect
condition, air-tight and efficient.
Ensure that the flue gas pipe too is in perfect
condition, air-tight and efficient, and
remove any existing blocks, however partial;
Ensure that the safety devices aboard the
machine are in good working order.
If yet one of the following events should
occur, call the technical service
immediately.
1) Soot, dirt or spots detected on or near the
machine, which for instance may be caused
by burns.
2) When ignition is difficult or it produces
unusual noise.
3) The shutoff valves on the gas supply line
do not work properly; for example they do
not shut gas supply completely.
4) If safety devices like AL6 or the manual-
reset safety thermostat trip repeatedly.
Measures to be taken in case of gas odour
All combustible gases have a peculiar odour
that enables their detection in the event of
a leak, before their concentration becomes
dangerous.
If such an odour is detected, behave as
follows:
1) Open doors and windows and air the
premises as much as possible.
2) Put all flames off immediately.
3) Shut the shutoff valves or main gas valve
on the appliance/appliances.
4) Do not smoke or light fire.
5) Do not start any electrical or telephone
appliance.
6) While keeping the shutoff valve closed,
check that all secondary valves are closed
too.
In case of an accidental leak on systems fed
with liquid gas (G30/G31), which is heavier
than air, the gas tends to move downwards.
This is which it will be necessary to sweep
the gas residue outdoors.
At any rate call the technical service
immediately: they will remove the leak and
test system tightness.
THE GUARANTEE DOES NOT APPLY
TO DAMAGE CAUSED BY INCORRECT
INSTALLATION.
5.9 INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHANGING
EQUIPMENT SETTINGS TO SUIT
OTHER TYPES OF GAS
BEFORE CARRYING OUT ANY
MAINTENANCE, DISCONNECT THE
APPLIANCE FROM THE POWER MAINS
USING THE MAIN CUTOFF SWITCH
ABOARD AND THE CIRCUIT BREAKER
ON THE WALL.
The table on page 91 lists the gas categories
and pressures that the equipment can operate
with.
Gas-heated appliances are attached a gas
conversion kit.
Machines prepared for Gas family 2 are
attached:
- Diaphragm for LPG gas (G30/G31)
- Calibrated nozzle
- Set of stickers for gas conversion, to be
placed on the rating plate (on both the
machine and manual)
as indicated in the last page of the present
manual
Machines prepared for Gas family 3 are
attached:
- Diaphragm for Methane gas (G20/G25)
- Set of stickers for gas conversion, to be
placed on the rating plate (on both the
machine and manual)
as indicated in the last page of the present
manual
Gas family conversion may only ever be
performed by a licensed technician.
5.9.1 Preparing the burner unit for
operation on gas types belonging to the
second family
2H, 2E, 2L, 2LL, 2S, 2Er, 2E(s)B
In order for the burner to work on second-
family gas it will be necessary to perform
the following actions:
Remove the calibrated nozzle marked B on
the figure.
Replace the diaphragm sealing the burner,
which is marked A on the figure, with one
appropriate for second-family gas and
having a bore of 38 mm (bigger diaphragm).
Put all components back in place. Ensure
that all components and seals are in good
working order.
Point out that the machine's gas system has
been modified by placing the relevant
stickers on the machine's serial plate and on
the manual.
Have a licensed technician adjust the burner
as described on section 5.9.3, and using the
procedures specific for the gas family to be
used.

5.9.2 Preparing the burner unit for
operation on gas types belonging to the
third family
3P, 3B/P
In order for the burner to work on third-
family gas it will be necessary to perform
the actions below.
Install the calibrated nozzle marked B on
the figure.
Replace the diaphragm sealing the burner,
which is marked A on the figure, with one
appropriate for third-family gas and having
a bore of 27.5 mm (smaller diaphragm).
Put all components back in place. Ensure
that these are undamaged and that seals are
in good working order.
Point out that the machine's gas system has
been modified by placing the relevant
stickers on the machine's serial plate and on
the manual.
Have a licensed technician adjust the burner
as described on section 5.9.3, and using the
procedures specific for the gas family to be
used.
5.9.3 Burner adjustment
Before the machine is commissioned, ensure
that the gas type and pressure it is fed with
meet the rating plate details; to this respect
refer to section 5.9 and check that the
machine can work on the available gas
type.
Before starting the machine up, make sure
that it is prepared for the type of gas it is
going to be fed with: if the machine is not
ready for operation on the type of gas
available, DO NOT CONNECT THE
MACHINE UP, but have it prepared by a
licensed technician.
To this respect, also refer to sections 5.9.1
and 5.9.2, which describe the actions needed
to prepare the machine for operation on the
various gas families.
If the machine is prepared for the gas family
and pressure existing at the place of
installation, have it connected up and
commissioned by a licensed technician.
In this case, it is possible to directly proceed
to starting the machine up. Check that
combustion meets the values appearing
below, and if need be, adjust the air/gas rate
until such values are met.
When the machine is correctly prepared for
the type of gas to be used, carry out the proper
start-up procedure, which is composed of the
steps listed and described below:
