Depositions on the probe are negligible for the measurement as long as there is no bridge building to the
container wall or other metal. The holding device has to be fixed at the inactive area of the probe with main-
tenance of the minimum distance (see fig. 2 and 3).

The evaluation units are available in following versions:
• KFA-5-1-... / KFA-4-1-...
• KFA-5-2-... / KFA-4-2-...
• KFA-5-3-M(S)-... / KFA-4-3-M(S)-... A three-point evaluation unit (extension possible using the Master/
• KFA-5-4-...
• Furthermore there is a compact probe KFX-5(4)-... with integrated evaluation unit in the connection
head.
The connection of the supply voltage has to be made according to the diagram on the unit. Observe the
correct assignment of the power supply!
Attention:
The potential BE has to be connected to the container potential! This connection should be made over
the shortest distance and routed with straight wire. (Shortening or lengthening of the cable is possible,
using a single-lead cable 0,25...1,5 mm
Measuring systems with wire break control (FB) indicate three operating states:
• Sensor connector off:
• Measurement all right:
Please note:
Wiring should be routed separately or screened from large value conducting cables, as in extreme cases
inductive peak voltages can destroy the sensors despite the integrated protective circuit.
Please take note that the use of a DC/DC-transducer calls briefly for a higher current than the operating current
when initially switching on the equipment. Therefore the power supply must have enough low-impedance!
The coaxial connectors of the sensors have to be connected to the amplifier. With probes with 2 or more
switching points the colour marking has to be observed to achieve the following assignment of
the measuring points: measuring point 1 = below, measuring point 2 = middle etc.
With operation requiring more than one evaluation unit KFA-5-3-M..., KFA-5-4-... (Master) with
1 (or more) KFA-5-3-S-... (Slave) the units must be linked to each other with the connection
cable which is supplied with the slave.
