Operation
Starting Operation
Inserting the battery
Set the rotational direction switch 6 to the centre position to
protect the power tool against accidental starting.
Slide the charged battery 9 from behind into the foot of the
power tool. Press the battery fully into the foot until the bat-
tery is securely locked.
Reversing the rotational direction (see figure B)
The rotational direction switch 6 is used to reverse the rota-
tional direction of the machine. However, this is not possible
with the On/Off switch 5 actuated.
Right rotation: To drill and to drive in screws, press the rota-
tional direction switch 6 forward through to the stop.
Left rotation: To loosen or unscrew screws, press the rota-
tional direction switch 6 backward through to the stop.
Setting the torque
The torque presetting ring 2 can be used to pre-select the re-
quired torque in 20 stages. When the correct setting is used,
the bit will be stopped as soon as the screw is driven flush into
the material or as soon as the set torque has been reached. In
position "
" the overload clutch is deactivated, e. g. for
drilling or driving in very large screws.
When unscrewing screws, perhaps select a higher setting or
set the tool to the "
" symbol.
Setting the operating mode (PSB Expert
(see figure C)
The operating mode preselection ring 3 can be used to
choose between screwdriving, drilling and impact drilling.
In the "Impact drilling" position, the safety clutch is deactivat-
ed and the maximum power is always effective.
Gear selection, mechanical
The gear selector 4 can be actuated at standstill or
when the machine is running. However, this should not
be done while operating at full load or maximum speed.
Two speed ranges can be preselected with the gear selector 4.
Gear I:
Low speed range; for screwdriving or working with large drill-
ing diameter.
Gear II:
High speed range; for working with small drilling diameter.
If the gear selector 4 cannot be pushed through to the stop,
lightly turn the drill chuck with drill bit.
Switching On and Off
To start the machine, press the On/Off switch 5 and keep it
pressed.
To switch off the machine, release the On/Off switch 5.
To save energy, only switch the power tool on when using it.
Setting the Speed/Impact Rate
The speed/impact rate of the switched on power tool can be
variably adjusted, depending on how far the On/Off switch 5
is pressed.
1 609 92A 3GW | (29.8.16)
Light pressure on the On/Off switch 5 results in low speed/
impact rate. Further pressure on the switch increases the
speed/impact rate.
Rapid Shut-off
The rapid shut-off feature enables better control of the power
tool. The power tool shuts off in case of sudden and unexpect-
ed rotation of the power tool around the drilling axis.
The rapid shut-off feature is indicated by a flashing LED on the
power tool.
Rapid shut-off can trigger only when the power tool is
running at maximum operating speed and can rotate
freely around the drill bit axis. Choose a suitable work
position for this. Otherwise, rapid shut-off will not be en-
sured.
To restart the machine, release the On/Off switch and then
actuate again.
Fully automatic spindle locking (Auto-lock)
When the On/Off switch 5 is not pressed, the drill spindle and
thus the tool holder are locked.
This enables screws to be screwed in, even when the battery
is empty and allows for the machine to be used as a screwdriv-
er.
Run-on Brake
When the On/Off switch 5 is released, the chuck brakes to a
stop, thus preventing the run-on of the tool.
When driving in screws, wait until the screw is screwed in
flush with the material and then release the On/Off switch 5.
+
LI-2 Ergonomic)
By doing so, the head of the screw does not penetrate into the
material.
Temperature Dependent Overload Protection
When using as intended for, the power tool cannot be subject
to overload. When the load is too high or the allowable battery
temperature is exceeded, the electronic control switches off
the power tool until the temperature is in the optimum tem-
perature range again.
Working Advice
Apply the power tool to the screw only when it is
switched off. Rotating tool inserts can slip off.
When the power tool is electrostatically charged, the built-in
electronic control switches it off. To restart the power tool,
press the On/Off switch 5 again.
Tips
The ergonomically shaped handle enables dynamic and fa-
tigue-free handling of the power tool (see figure D).
After longer periods of working at low speed, allow the ma-
chine to cool down by running it for approx. 3 minutes at max-
imum speed with no load.
For drilling in metal, use only perfectly sharpened HSS drill
bits (HSS=high-speed steel). The appropriate quality is guar-
anteed by the Bosch accessories program.
Before screwing larger, longer screws into hard materials, it is
advisable to predrill a pilot hole with the core diameter of the
thread to approx.

of the screw length.
