PROBLEM
Excessive tank pressure- safety valve pops
open
Air leaks at fittings
Air leak from safety valve
Knocking noise
Pressure reading on the regulated pressure
gauge drops when an accessory is used.
Compressor is not supplying enough air to
operate accessories.
Motor will not run.
ComPressor TrouBlesHooTiNG
CAUSE
Pressure switch does not shut off motor when
compressor reaches "cut-out" pressure.
Pressure switch "cut-out" too high.
Tube fittings are not tight enough.
Possible defect in safety valve.
Possible defect in safety valve.
It is normal for "some" pressure drop to occur. If there is an excessive amount of pressure
Prolonged excessive use of air.
Compressor is not large enough for air
requirement.
Hole in hose.
Air leaks.
Circuit breaker tripped.
Extension cord is wrong length or gauge.
Loose electrical connections.
Faulty motor.
CORRECTION
Move Off/Auto-On switch to the Off position.
If the unit does not shut off, contact a trained
service technician.
Contact a trained service technician.
Tighten fittings where air can be heard
escaping.
Check any exposed fittings with soapy water.
Apply sealant tape to fitting threads. DO NOT
over-tighten.
Operate safety valve manually by pulling on
ring.
If valve still leaks, contact a trained service
technician.

drop when the accessory is used, adjust the
regulator. NOTE: Adjust the regulator under
flow conditions (while the accessory is being
used.)
Decrease the amount of air usage.
Check the accessory air requirement. If it is
higher than the CFM or pressure supplied
by this compressor, you need a larger
compressor.
Check and replace as required.
Tighten any exposed fittings.
Check for low voltage problem.
Check the extension cord.
Disconnect the other electrical appliances
from the circuit or operate the compressor on
its own branch circuit.
Check the extension cord.
Check wiring connection inside the terminal
box.
Have the motor checked by a trained service
technician.
