UTILISATION :
- During utilization, verify on a regular basis the adjustment and fastening element of the harness, and its
belt, if it is equipped with one. These components must be protected against any environmental stresses:
mechanical stresses (impacts, sudden stops...), chemical stresses (acids, bases, solvents...) electrical
stresses (short-circuits, electrical arcs...) or thermal stresses (hot surfaces, torches...)
- The anchor point on the structure to which the fall prevention system is fixed must be right above the
user and have a static strength of at least 10 kN. It must also meet the requirements of standard EN795.
Do not deviate too much from the plumb line for this anchoring in order to limit the scope of a possible
pendulum drop.
The fall arrest system must necessarily be connected to the dorsal D-ring of the harness, or to the
-
extremity of the extender strap, if it is equipped with such, or to the two sternum rings simultaneously.
These points are identified by the letter A (single connections) or A/2 (it is required to connect these
points together).
- Utilization of the harness with a fall arrest sub-system must be compatible with the instructions for use
for each component of the system and with the norms: EN353-1 / EN353-2 / EN 355 / EN360 / EN 362.
For mobile fall arresters that include a rigid fall prevention support (EN353-1) or a flexible one (EN353-2),
it is recommended to connect the harness to the sternum anchoring. For the energy absorbers (EN355)
or fall arresters with automatic return (EN360), connect the harness instead to the dorsal anchorage.
- After a fall, the lanyard must be destroyed and replaced.
GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR UTILIZATION:
- Periodic inspections carried out by a competent inspector are necessary in order to ensure the safety of
the user, which is related to maintaining the effectiveness and the resistance of the equipment. An
annual required inspection will validate the condition of the equipment, and it can only be kept in service
if it receives written approval.
- Do not expose these products to temperatures below –35°C or above 50°C.
- Use of this equipment cannot be diverted and in no case can it be pushed beyond its limits.
- Storage: the product must be stored in a dry and aerated place, protected from any direct or indirect heat
source, and from ultra-violet rays. The drying of wet equipment must be under the same conditions.
- Cleaning and disinfecting: exclusively with water or with neutral soap.
- Packaging: use protective packaging that is tight and rot-proof.
- Transportation: in wrapping and protected from environmental impact or pressures.
- Any modification or repair of the product is forbidden.
- Update the identification sheet and maintenance record as of when it is put into service and during each
inspection.
- Life expectancy: PPE (personal protective equipment) against falls from height manufactured by Néofeu
are designed for many years of use under normal conditions of utilization and storage. The life
expectancy depends on how it is utilized. Certain particularly aggressive marine, siliceous, and chemical
environments can reduce the life expectancy of PPE. In these cases particular attention must be paid to
protections and inspections before utilization. The required annual inspection will validate the correct
functioning of the mechanism and its being kept in service, which will only occur with the written approval
of the manufacturer or his representative.
With regards to the preceding, the indicated life expectancy recommended by Néofeu for the products is
ten years.
