Installation instructions
Piping
Ensure that all measuring and ancillary instruments can be easily operated and values read off. Measuring instruments must be
installed so that the dial is horizontal and facing upwards.
The layout of the piping must ensure that all measuring instruments are filled with liquid at all times and that no air bubbles are present.
TOPAS turbine counters require no inlet or outlet paths.
Dimensioning the measuring instruments and ancillary instruments
Flowmeters must be appropriately dimensioned according to the conditions of the facility. Alter the piping specifications if necessary. All
flowmeters and ancillary instruments are to be dimensioned according to maximum operating conditions. Of special importance are:
•
Flowrate
•
Operating pressure
•
Operating temperature
•
Ambient temperature
Mounting
Purge the piping at high pressure before mounting. Use spacers instead of counters for new or updated piping.
Commissioning
When commissioning and after every emptying procedure, open the valve slowly in order to prevent water hammer. Continuous overload
will lead to damage of the unit.
Notes on safety
•
When transporting, grip the flowmeter by the housing; not by any extension module fitted or by the cover.
•
Instruments may only be used for the purpose for which they were intended. An accessory may only be used if it does not affect its
correct function in any way. Aquametro instruments are manufactured according to current standards and directives. Aquametro
guarantees the quality of its products as stated in its general terms and conditions. Liability for correct installation and correct ope-
ration passes to the owner or operator once the goods have been accepted. All installation instructions must be carefully observed.
•
The facility must be designed to ensure that the flowmeter cannot be damaged. This applies especially to frost damage, torsion in the
piping, excessive thermal expansion of the piping, installation in leaky piping, the entry of foreign bodies or silting up.
•
When installing the flowmeter, the clearances of the piping must be taken into account. With a flanged connection, all connecting
elements are to be tightened and with the torque as specified by the bolt manufacturers.
•
Observe the permissible operating data as stated on the nameplate. Max. test pressure is 1.5 x nominal pressure PN.
•
Check the flowmeters periodically for function and to ensure that the connections are properly tightened.
•
When working on the facility and before opening it up:
a) Release the pressure in the facility.
b) Wear protective clothing and goggles when using hot water.
c) Place a collecting basin immediately under the working area.
