Adjustment KXA-5-...

The adjustment is made at the amplifier after mounting. First find the switching point by means of the ad-
justment potentiometer. Right-turn increases the sensitivity, Left-turn reduces the sensitivity. Generally the
adjustment should be made with the measuring object in the required position.
Attention:
Because of the high sensitivity of the proximity sensor it is possible that during the adjustment the hand can
lead to the switching of the sensor or may influence the switching point. Therefore it is important to take note,
that there are constant conditions within the measuring area, except for the change for which detection is
required. Please check the function after adjustment and correct it if necessary.
After mechanical changes or change to the position of the sensor or alterations within the measuring area
a re-adjustment is necessary.
„Empty" adjustment with evaluation unit
KXA-5-...
• The „empty" adjustment is made with no target
in front of the sensor
• Adjust the switching point with the screw driver
on the potentiometer (LED yellow)
• The most sensitive adjustment is reached, when
from the position LED = yellow, the potentiome-
ter is turned to the left until the yellow LED just
turns off.
• The more one turns to the left, the less sensitive
is the adjustment
With KXA-5-4-... this procedure has to be made for each measuring point. The sequence is not
important.
Evaluation units with sensor break control KXA-5-4-...-FB-...:
Each channel has a sensor break control (FB), which provide a NC-signal on the respective FB-output and
which is displayed by means of a green LED. The correctly mounted sensor generates a definite internal signal
in the evaluation unit. With the FB-adjustment a trigger level is adjusted for this signal. In case of a defect
(disconnection of sensor cable or BE wire, etc.) this signal will be lower and the sensor break will be
indicated:
• the respective green LED is off
• the respective FB-output has low level.
Adjustment of the sensor break control function (FB):
The adjustment of the FB-control has to be made after the full-/empty-adjustment.
The FB- adjustment is made with correctly mounted sensor, without target. Turn the potentiometer from the
switching point 1 turn to the right and keep the potentiometer at this position (adjust the FB-control not too
close to the switching point, otherwise the FB will be activated already with acceptable changes at the sensor
- possible function control: plug-off the sensor). At normal operating state the green FB-LED's are green.
Information on multiple switching point measurements with Master/Slave units:
• Only one Master unit should be operated per machine or plant. Extension has to be made with Master/
Slave combinations.
• A connection cable is necessary between Master Unit and Slave Units; this is supplied with the Slave
Units.
• The Master Unit can be used without Slave Units. The Slave Units will not work without Master-Units

„Full" adjustment with evaluation unit
KXA-5-...
• The „full" adjustment is made with the target
placed in front of the sensor
• Adjust the switching point with the screw
sdriver
on the potentiometer (LED yellow)
• The most insensitive adjustment is reached,
when the potentiometer is turned to the right
until the LED just turns to yellow.
• The more one turns to the right, the more
sensitive is the adjustment
