Safety instructions

Reliable functioning

Caution
This instrument is a high-quality technical product. To ensure perfect
and reliable function, have it checked at least every 12 months by
authorized service technicians.
Electrical safety
The user may only open the SL 120 Slit Lamp for changing the bulb,
since any other operation in the instrument may endanger both
operator and patient.
Switch off the instrument with the mains switch before changing the
bulb.
The instrument's power supply is short-circuit-proof.
Opening of the power supply is only allowed to the service staff.
Requirements for operation
Please take care that the following requirements are met before using
the instrument each time:
Check all detachable connections (e.g. binocular tube, 1, Fig. 2) prior
to each use.
The instrument is electrically connected by means of the instrument's
power cable.
The power cable is connected to a socket with perfect earthing
contact.
All cables and plugs are in perfect condition.
Additional movable multiple sockets or extensions lines must not be
connected to the system. Do not interrupt the earthing contact in-
tentionally either inside or outside the instrument, as this may cause
the instrument casing to carry dangerous voltages. If any cables are
damaged, discontinue use until repairs are carried out.
For every use of the instrument
Avoid looking directly into the light emitting prism.
After every use
To switch off the instrument, use the mains switch.
Always switch off after use.
Mechanical system of slit lamp
On slit lamp and instrument base various mechanical units can be
moved relative to each other. Avoid that your fingers are caught
between them.
The patients should rest their hands on their lap to avoid contact
with the microscope. This also assists in obtaining the correct posture
on the headrest.
