Cleaning

Warning
Before cleaning, turn off the instrument and disconnect the power
cable!
Due to its simple and covered construction, the SL 120 Slit Lamp is
almost maintenance-free. It is, however, necessary to clean the opti
cal components (objective, eyepiece) occasionally. To remove dust
from accessible surfaces, use a soft brush.
Clean very dirty paint surfaces with a cloth moistened (not dripping)
with weak detergent.
Clean all contaminated parts the patient gets in touch with during
the examination (chin rest, forehead rest) using a disinfectant
approved for this application. These parts are resistant to agents of
the following categories: "Low" (e.g. wash liquids, quaternary
ammonium compounds) und "Intermediate" (e.g. alcohols, Javel
water, iodine; Categorization acc. to Disinfectants and range of
effectiveness in compliance with the Center of Disease Control and
Prevention; Atlanta/USA).
Paper pads should be changed after every patient.
If necessary, clean the front surface of the objective carefully with an
ether/spirit mixture (1:1) applied to a cotton swab. For cleaning,
switch on the illumination so that you can check the cleaning effect.
Move the cotton swab or an equivalent appropriate tool of the optics
cleaning kit circularly from the lens center to the edge.
When not in use cover the instrument, to protect it from dust using
the dust cover provided. Store all accessories in suitable storage
boxes.

Safety inspections

To ensure proper function of the instrument, it should be subjected to a
safety inspection once a year (visual inspection, measurement of the
resistance of the protective conductor, and discharge current
measurement). The technical safety inspection is to be performed by an
authorized specialist.
Consider the applicable national safety requirements.
