General Information
The subwoofer module is to be used only for vehicles equipped with the sound module system.
All jobs are shown on left-hand drive vehicles.The procedure is the same on right-hand drive vehicles.
Target group
These installation instructions are intended for specialist personnel trained in BMW passenger cars.
Tasks
Independently carry out all maintenance, repair, installation and readjustment jobs on passenger cars.
All jobs are to be carried out with the aid of valid BMW
– repair instructions
– maintenance manuals
– diagnosis manuals
– schematics
– working instructions
in rational order with the specified tools (special tools) and in compliance with valid health and safety regulations.
Installation notes
It may be necessary to shorten all non-premanufactured lines at the connection location.
The "loading aid conversion kit" must be ordered separately in compliance with the Electronic Parts Catalogue
(EPC) for E39/2 vehicles with loading aid (option 412).
Installation time
Installation time on E39/2 vehicles without on-board monitor radio
Installation time on E36/3, E36/5, E34/2 vehicles with battery in engine compartment
Installation time on all other vehicles
The specified installation times may vary depending on the status and equipment of the vehicle.
Safety notes
Particular care must be taken when installing cables/lines to ensure that they are not kinked, bent or damaged.
Additionally installed cables/lines must be secured with cable ties.
Jumpers, double crimp connections or parallel connections will be required if the specified pin chambers are
occupied.

Handling
Please make a copy of these installation instructions.
Use the copy for installation purposes and keep as a source of reference in the workshop.
Hand out the original to the customer.
The customer information/instructions for use should also be handed out to the customer.
The three covers, Item 8 in the parts overview, are required to cover the retainers, Item 6 in the parts overview,
when the subwoofer is removed.They must therefore also be handed over to the customer.
The subwoofer must always be secured with all three locking pins (catches) while driving.
