Tool Assembly for long hole (only with APS 70 and APS 120)
First insert the die.
Die
1. Loosen the grub screws on both sides of the punch body. Place the clear die-plates so that the side with the
smaller hole diameter (blank side) is facing upwards.
2. Turn the die-plates so that the milled groove and the grub screws are on one axis.
3. Tighten both grub screws.
Ensure that the long hole punch is in the correct direction for the long hole die. The punch and die can
be analogously rotated by 90° .
4. Before punching check the correct cutting clearance between the punch and die. Slowly push down the punches
using the START/STOP function until you can check the proper alignment of the punch and the die-plates.
Punch
1. Loosen the clamping nut with the drift bolt.
2. Loosen the clamping nut and secure the long hole punch so that the pin on the punch can be placed in the hole
provided in the rotor rod.
3. Tighten the clamping nut with the key (ensure the hold-down device is adjusted accordingly).
If the clamping nut is not tightened enough, the punch will break.
The clamping nut can only be tightened if the hold-down device is turned back while tightening. This will not
happen without the punch and it can lead to a break if tilted.
Long hole punches should not be used on structures with inclined flanges of 3° to 7°
(longitudinally like transversely). A strong lateral load occurs through the inclined flange which can
lead to failure of the equipment.
