InPro
2.
«CaliCap» is a precision calibration tool for METTLER TOLEDO
scattered light sensors of the InPro
combination with the METTLER TOLEDO Turbidity Transmitter
Trb 8300. This tool is also suitable for use with the previous
product series of FSC402 transmitters and OFS12 sensors.
«CaliCap» serves to carry out a reproducible 2-point check of

METTLER TOLEDO turbidity sensors without the use of liquid
calibration solutions but is also suitable for calibrations with refe-
rence solutions in open laboratory vessels (beakers). The fault
tolerance for a dry check comes within the limits of ± 5% of the
measuring value.

offset value manually until a measuring value of «0» is shown on
the display. Note the new offset value of the transmitter.

a new optical fiber, an extension or even of a different «CaliCap»
unit make it necessary to carry out a new calibration of the com-
plete system.
2.2 Off-line calibration in open laboratory vessels
compatibility of all wetted parts, or otherwise to abstain altogether
from operation in aggressive media.
For off-line calibration, the stainless steel holder [1] together with
only the black insert [3] is needed when dipping the sensor into
the reference solutions. Due to the optimized design of the black
plastic insert, any disturbing light reflections from the sides or
bottom of the laboratory vessel are eliminated, thereby speeding
up the calibration procedure.
The solutions/media should be stirred during calibration to prevent
any sedimentation of solid particles.
Carry out steps 1, 2, 3 and 5 as described in Section 2.1. Steps
2 and 3 guarantee a reproducible constellation of sensor and
«CaliCap». Afterwards, the sensor with the «CaliCap» in place is
to be dipped into all calibration solutions consecutively and cali-
bration carried out as described in the Instruction Manual of the
Transmitter (see Chapter «Manual Calibration» or «Multipoint
Calibration»). Between the individual dippings into the different
solutions, the sensor including the fitted «CaliCap» holder is to
be rinsed each time with clear water or solvent.
When calibration has been completed, rinse the «CaliCap» and
the sensor thoroughly with clear water and then dismount the
sensor from the «CaliCap» unit completely. Rinse, clean and dry
the individual parts [1], 2a, 2b, 2c and [3] before reassembling
the «CaliCap» into its initial condition.
3. Conditions of warranty
METTLER TOLEDO guarantees the quality of materials and work-
manship within a narrow range of manufacturing tolerances, so
that the product purchased is free from any substantial deviations
from material and manufacturing quality standards. The warranty
is valid for the period of one year from date of delivery ex works.
If within this warranty period, any repair or replacement should
become necessary, and such cause is not due to misuse or incor-
rect application, please return the sensor, carriage paid, to your
appropriate METTLER TOLEDO agency. Repair work will be carried
out free of charge. Final decision on whether the defect is due to
a manufacturing error or to incorrect operation of the sensor by
the customer is made at the option of the Customer Service depart-
ment of METTLER TOLEDO. After expiry of the period of warranty,
faulty sensors will be repaired or replaced on an exchange basis
against payment of the costs involved.
