6.3 HOW TO RELEASE A TRUNK WHICH GETS
STUCK
1. Release both operating handles so that the trunk
pusher (Fig. 1/Item 3) can move fully back.
2. Insert a triangular shaped wooden wedge under
the trunk and then start the trunk pusher to press
the wedge under the stuck trunk.
3. Repeat this process with larger and larger
wedges until the stuck trunk is released.
Important!
Never hammer against the stuck trunk or place
your hands anywhere near the trunk when trying
to release it.
NEVER ASK ANYONE ELSE TO HELP WHEN
TRYING TO RELEASE A TRUNK WHICH HAS
BECOME STUCK.
NEVER ATTEMPT TO RELEASE THE TRUNK
BY HITTING IT WITH A TOOL.
7. Cleaning, maintenance and ordering
of spare parts
Always pull out the mains power plug before starting
any cleaning work.
7.1 Cleaning
Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor
housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible.
Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it
with compressed air at low pressure.
We recommend that you clean the device
immediately each time you have finished using it.
Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth
and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents
or solvents; these could attack the plastic parts of
the equipment. Ensure that no water can seep
into the device.
7.2 Maintenance
There are no parts inside the equipment which
require additional maintenance.

7.2.1 Sharpening the wedge

1. Once it has been in use for some time, or as and
when necessary, you should sharpen the wedge
with a fine-toothed file and carefully remove any
burrs or flat areas on the edge.
Important!
Always disconnect the device from the power supply
before starting any maintenance work!
7.2.2 Changing the hydraulic oil (Fig. 20-23)
The hydraulic oil should be changed after every
300 hours of operation.
1. Make sure that the trunk pusher is fully retracted.
2. Unscrew the oil-level gauge (E).
Important! The oil seal (F) is made of rubber and
is very easily damaged if the oil screw is
tightened too strongly. Check the oil seal when
you unscrew the oil-level gauge. A replacement
ring is included with the device.
3. Place a container with a capacity for at least 4
liters of oil beneath the wood splitter. Then tilt the
machine to empty the oil into the container.
4. Tilt the wood splitter so that the drainage
opening (G) faces upwards. Fill the machine with
the amount of hydraulic oil required with the help
of a clean funnel. (Make sure that you only use
clean, high-quality hydraulic oil which is
specifically intended for this purpose.)
5. Clean the oil-level gauge (E) and insert it to
check that the oil level is between the two marks
(H) on the oil-level gauge.
6. Thoroughly clean the oil-level gauge (E) and the
oil seal O-ring (F) and fit them back in place. Be
careful to avoid damaging the thread on the
aluminium cover.
Recommended hydraulic oil
We recommend that you use one of the following
makes of hydraulic oil for the hydraulic cylinder:
SHELL TELLUS T22
ARAL VITAM Gf22
SP ENGERGOL HCP22
MOBIL DTE11
or an alternative of the same quality
NEVER USE ANY OTHER TYPES OF OIL
