4.3 Curing time

The curing time, curing temperature and operating temperature of the installa-
tion are interdependent. The curing temperature should at least be as high as
the operating temperature, and even higher if possible. The relationship of cu-
ring temperature and curing time can be taken from the following diagram,
showing the minimum requirement.
curing time [h]
The time is to be calculated from the point when the work piece reaches the
temperature. For precision measurements, choose the following procedure:
• 2 hours at 180 °C [356 °F],
• remove the clamps, cushioning layers and separating foil,
• heat again,
• complete the hardening for 2 hours at 200 °C [392 °F].
Further temperature steps can be required; the curing temperature in each
case must be at least 30 degrees higher than the service temperature, and it
should be raised in steps of 30 degrees with 2 to 4 hours holding time at each
steps. The maximum permissible temperature for EP250 is 315 °C [599 °F].
Please observe the temperature limits of the strain gages used.
