Connecting devices via a cable
connection
CAUTION
!
Before positioning the devices, a functional test (see
chapter 3.4 on page 46) must be conducted on every
device.
X-zone 5x00 devices must always be connected from
connection XEXT1 to connection XEXT2.
NOTICE
i
i
Due to diverse customer requirements, Dräger offers
only a communication cable (order no. 83 21 669). All
relevant cable parameters are described in this
chapter.
If radio connections are not allowed or blocked, the
devices can be connected via communication cable.
The maximum cable length between two devices is
25 m.
Combined wireless and cable operation is possible.

1. Switch on the X-zone 5500 (see chapter 3.1 on page 44).
2. Plug the communication cable into the charging port/
RS485 connection (XEXT1)(1) on the rear side of the
device.
3. Connect the end of the communication cable to the switch
relay/RS485 connection (XEXT2) (2) of the second device.
The
communications
LEDs on the coupled
devices light up green.
