7 Bench Alignment

Align trans-femoral devices according to fitting
instructions supplied with the knee, keeping the build
line relative to the Multiflex ankle, as shown.

7.1 Static Alignment

With the flexion accommodated the build line should
pass through the center of the socket in the sagittal
(A–P) plane and through the Multiflex foot, as shown.
Heel height of the shoe should be accommodated.

7.2 Dynamic Alignment

Coronal Plane
Make sure that M–L thrust is minimal by adjusting
relative positions of socket and foot.
Sagittal Plane
Check for smooth transition from heel strike to toe-off.
Also, make sure that when standing, the heel and toe
are evenly loaded and that both are touching the floor.
Check that the serrations are engaged
before tightening the foot bolt.
Incorrectly engaged serrations
can lead to noise and result in
sudden loosening of the foot.
Confirm correct engagement
of serrations by slackening foot
bolt 1/8 turn. Foot should be
loose but not rotate. then torque
to correct torque.
