4.1 SOLDERING
1. Connect the station to the mains. Note that the automatic cooling function has started.
2. Switch on the unit. The heating element reaches its ideal temperature.
3. Set the temperature (± 300-350 °C) and the airflow (1-3).
4. Apply some solder paste onto the IC.
5. Preheat the IC.
6. Solder the IC onto the PCB by heating the lead frame evenly.
7. Wash away the flux when soldering is completed.
NOTE: Be very careful not to damage the IC when soldering. Examine soldering conditions sufficiently.
4.2 DESOLDERING
1. Connect the unit to the mains by means of the power cord and switch on the unit. Upon connection,
the automatic blowing function will start blowing air through the pipe. The heating element remains
cool.
2. Switch on your station. The heating element warms up.
3. Set the temperature (± 300-350 °C) and airflow (1-3).
4. Melt the solder. Hold the gun in such way that the nozzle be directly over the IC. Be careful not to
touch any leads of the IC.
5. Remove the IC using tweezers.
6. Turn off the power to the unit.
5. Replacing the Heating Element
CAUTION: Disconnect the unit from the mains prior to examining and maintaining. Failure to
do so may result in electroshocks.
1. Loosen the two screws and slide out the heating element. Be careful not to drop the quartz glass or
the heating element.
2. Disconnect the terminal and remove the heating element.
3. Insert a new heating element and reconnect the terminal. Reconnect the ground wire. Handle the
heating element with great care.
4. Reassemble the handle.
