Replacing the blade (Fig. XIX, XX, XXI, XXII)
WARNING: Unplug the mitre saw before changing/installing the Blade (28).
1) Select a 254mm Blade with a 25.4mm arbour, making sure the rotation arrow on
the Blade matches the clockwise rotation arrow on the upper guard, and the
Blade teeth are pointing downward
2) Place the Blade, the Outer Blade Collar (71) against the Blade and on the arbour.
Thread the Arbour Bolt (69) on the arbour in a counter clockwise direction

Blade (28).
3) Place the Blade Spanner (35) on the Arbour Bolt
4) Press the Arbour Lock (70), holding it in firmly while turning the Blade counter

5) Rotate the Cover Plate (68) and Lower Blade Guard (3) back to its original
position
6) Replace the the Cover Plate Screw (67) and tighten with a Phillips screwdriver.
7) Verify the operation of the Lower Blade Guard does not bind or stick
8) Be sure the Arbour Lock is released so the Blade turns freely
Replacing the guide fence (Fig. XXIII)
IMPORTANT: The left side Guide Fence (11) must be removed when making any
right bevel angle cuts greater than 33.9° in combination with any right or left mitre
angle. This Guide Fence must also be removed when making left bevel cuts greater
than 40° with a mitre angle greater than 31.6°.
1) Unlock the Guide Fence Locking Lever (24) by pushing it out towards the rear of
the saw.
2) Align the Guide Fence Slot (72) with the Guide Fence Rear Bolt (73) in the rear
of the Guide Fence, and then lift up the Guide Fence to remove it from the saw.
3) To replace the Guide Fence, align the Guide Fence Slot with the Guide Fence
Rear Bolt in the rear of the Guide Fence to place the Guide Fence onto the mitre
saw fence.
4) Slide the Guide Fence to align the Back Nut (74) with the Back Slot (75).
5) To lock the Guide Fence, push the Cam Locking Lever (24) in towards the front
of the saw.
Carbon brushes (Fig. XXIV)
WARNING: Always disconnect the plug from the power source before inspecting
the brushes.
Check the motor brushes after the first 50 hours of use for a new machine or
after a new set of brushes have been installed.
After the first check, examine them every 10 hours of use. When the carbon is
worn to 6 mm in length or if the spring or shunt wire is burned or damaged,
replace both brushes.
If the brushes are found serviceable after removing, reinstall them.
To inspect or replace brushes, first unplug the saw. Next, remove the two Fixing
Screws (76) and the motor Rear Motor Cover (77) from the motor. Carefully
remove the Spring-Loaded Cap (78) on the side of the motor. Third, pull out the
Carbon Brush (79) and replace. The ears on the metal end of the assembly go in
the same hole the carbon part fits into. Last, tighten the cap snugly, but do not
overtighten.
Repeat above procedure for the Carbon Brush located on the other side of the
motor.
Note: To reinstall the same brushes, first make sure the brushes go back in the way
they came out. This will avoid a break-in period that reduces motor performance and
increases wear
