4. Initial operation

4.1 Connecting the heating hose to the airless unit and spray gun

The HotFlow 55 7.5 m heating hose system (art. no. 69 15 05) is suitable for STORCH Airless equipment as of date of
manufacture 10/2011. The heating element on the hose is connected to the airless unit (note: the maximum operating
pressure is 250 bar). If the heating hose is mounted on the hose reel, connect it to the airless unit using the connecting
hose supplied. The spray gun is to be connected to the other end. Firmly tighten all of the hose connections using the
corresponding tool. Attach the nozzle holder and selected nozzle onto the spray gun and screw it firmly in place. Depen-
ding on the connection thread, use the enclosed connection adapters on the device and gun sides.
4.2 Connecting the heating element to the mains supply and the heating hose
Before connecting to the mains supply make sure that the mains voltage matches the details on the unit's type plate.
Unroll the heating element connecting cable before plugging into a 230 V socket.

4.3 Setting the temperature

The temperature is set automatically. The max. temperature is 55° C. The system detects the max. temperature and
keeps this autonomously through the thermostat switching on and off. Reaching the max. temperature depends on
various factors: the lower the ambient temperature and/er the temperature of the coating material, the longer the heat-
up period will be. It can be between around 5 minutes and 20 minutes. If the nozzle you use is too large, the coating
material may not reach the desired temperature as the flow speed in the hose is too high. The coating material dwell
time in the hose is too short. Use a smaller nozzle and adapt your working speed as needed.
