1 Operating Elements
and Connections
1.1 Upper side of the unit
1 PowerCon
®
jack for connection to the 230 V
mains (
chapter 5.3)
2 Earthed sockets CH 1 to CH 4 for connection to
the units to be controlled
WARNING Even if the outputs are switched
off, a dangerous mains voltage
may be present at the sockets.
Therefore, prior to connecting
units or working at the units,
always disconnect the SW-4DMX
from the 230 V mains!
3 Circuit breaker for the protection of the unit;
to reset the released switch, press down the
button
4 Indicating LEDs for the control signals of the
4 channels
5 LED Power / DMX signal; the LED lights continu-
ously as a power indication or flashes when a
DMX signal is received.
6 Fuse holder for protection of the outputs CH 1 to
CH 4; only replace a blown fuse by one of the
same type!

1.2 Front side

7 DMX input: XLR, 3-pole
1 = ground, 2 = DMX-, 3 = DMX+
8 DMX output: XLR, 3-pole
1 = ground, 2 = DMX-, 3 = DMX+
9 Input jacks and output jacks for connection of a
control console with analog output (0 – 10 V) or
another SW-4DMX; pin configuration
10 DIP switches No. 1 to 9 for adjusting the DMX
start address or for selecting the automatic light
sequencer when connecting spotlights (
ter 6.4)
DIP switch No. 10 for the selection of the oper-
ating mode:
ON = control of all outputs in sync to channel 1
(with DMX operation and automatic light
sequencer)

2 Safety Notes

This unit corresponds to all relevant directives of
the EU and is therefore marked with
WARNING The unit is supplied with hazardous
It is essential to observe the following items:
G
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against dripping water and splash water, high air
humidity, and heat (admissible ambient tempera-
ture range 0 – 40 °C).
G
Do not place any vessels filled with liquid, e. g. a
drinking glass, on the unit.
G
The heat being generated inside the unit must be
carried off by air circulation. Therefore, never
cover the air vents.
G
Do not set the unit into operation, or immediately
disconnect it from the mains voltage if
1. there is visible damage to the unit or to the
mains cable,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or
similar accident,
3. malfunctions occur.
The unit must in any case be repaired by skilled
personnel.

Never pull the mains cable when disconnecting a
mains plug from the mains socket, always seize
the plug.
G
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, never use
water or chemicals.
G
No guarantee claims for the unit and no liability
for any resulting personal damage or material

other purposes than originally intended, if it is not
