OPERATION
"Automatic mode" operation during discharge:
- Under limited load conditions (up to 35A), the
device can discharge the batteries separately
and alternately up to the reference low battery
threshold using the microprocessor algorithm
that analyses the condition of each battery and
the system variables.
- Under high load conditions (over 35A), the
device temporarily connects the batteries in
parallel.
"Automatic mode" operation during charge:
-
Regardless of the charging source (alternator,
battery charger, photovoltaic modules,...) the
batteries are managed by the microprocessor
separately and alternately until the end- f-
charge threshold of each individual battery is
reached.
-
Once the end-of-charge phase of each battery
is complete, the device keeps both batteries
charged by connecting them in parallel
-
When connecting a user, the device separates
the batteries in order to start again with the
discharge phase.

"BATTERY
The "battery
when the battery voltage drops below 9.5V (to avoid
irreversible damage). The activation of the "BATTERY
PROTECTION" function is indicated by LEDs 4 and 5
with short blinks (fig.1).
If the voltage drops below 8.5V, the device turns off
automatically.
The batteries can be reset manually by turning the
device off and on again.
If the battery voltage does not rise above 9.5V, the power
supply is guaranteed for up to 1 minute.
"BATTERY EFFICIENCY CONTROL" FUNCTION
The BDS180 can detect if there is a short-circuit on the
connected batteries or if they have exhausted their
capacity completely.
In these situations, the device isolates the damaged
o
battery and the fault is indicated by the corresponding
LED on the "BDS180" (ref. 4 or 5) and on the "MC-180"
control panel (ref. 1 or 2) with long blinks.
