Over time, depending upon the frequency of use

and the type of material sanded, the bristles on

the Brush Skirt will become degraded and worn.

The bristles on the Brush Skirt must be complete

with no gaps or portions missing.

A new Brush Skirt has a bristle length of 15mm.

Replace the Brush Skirt when the length of the

bristles is approximately 8mm, or when the

bristles no longer extend below the surface

of an installed sanding disc.

To replace the Brush Skirt

WARNING: Only attempt this procedure with the

machine disconnected from the power supply.

Remove any installed sanding disc to reveal the

Backing Pad and the centrally located Hex Head

Socket Screw that attaches it to the drive spindle.

•

Holding the Backing Pad with the palm

of one hand, insert the supplied 5mm Hex Key

to the screw. Clockwise turn the

5mm Hex Key. Remove the Backing Pad.

Note: Afterwards, you will be able to see the Hex

Head Thread as shown. (Fig. 14)

Using a #1 Phillips Screwdriver remove and

safely store the eight (8) self tapping screws

that hold the Brush Skirt into the Sanding

Head (Fig. 15)

•

Lift away the old Brush Skirt.

•

Installation of the new Brush Skirt is the

reversal of the removal process, but note the

following:

•

The eight (8) springs contained within the

Sanding Head must seat accurately under

the new Brush Skirt.

•

The eight (8) (Fig. 15A) self tapping

screws must be firmly tightened (but not

over tightened as it is possible to strip the

cut threads).

•

Ensure that the eight (8) attachment arms

(Fig. 15B) are accurately seated on the

eight (8) mounting bosses.

•

The Backing Pad is fitted back to the drive

spindle secured with the Hex Head Socket

Screw.

•

Tighten the pad back-up.

Note: Changing the Brush Skirt will expose the

Sanding Head Suction Control Valve. (Fig 15). The

operator should take the opportunity to examine

the valve and the flexible tube leading from it, and

remove any build up of debris or dust etc.
