3 Battery Charging
The batteries are not field replaceable and will be
replaced as necessary when serviced.
Note at low battery power levels the élan will go into sleep mode,
switches off dynamic control and uses only the basic resistance settings .
Charge the élan batteries as soon as possible to restore Dynamic mode.
Read the user instructions supplied with the charger before using for the first
time.
1. The élan must be charged daily. It should take 2 hours to charge fully.
2. Lay the limb on a flat surface and use the Charger Cable Adapter to connect
the charger into the cable interface in the top of the ankle casing.
Use the indicator light on the charger to confirm that charging has initiated
correctly:
The élan will take several seconds to reset when the charger is disconnected
3. Only charge the batteries in the élan using the charger supplied with the
product.
Do not use this charger for charging any other device.
4. The battery charger can be used with an electrical outlet that is rated
between 100V and 240V AC, 50/60Hz.
5. Never plug the charger into the élan while still wearing the limb.
6. During charging no power is delivered to the ankle control system.
7. The front of the ankle may become warm during charging but should never
be too hot to touch. There should be no abnormal smell. If this is the case
immediately unplug from electrical supply and contact your service provider.
8. Do not refit the limb until the charger has been disconnected.
9. Always recharge the élan before use if it has not been used for an extended
period of time.
