• People who do not have the physical,
mental or sensory abilities to operate the
tool carefully and safety may not be per-
mitted to use it.
• Make sure to always wear personal pro-
tective clothing when operating (► Per-
sonal protective clothing – p. 21).
• Exercise caution and only work when in
good condition: If you are tired, ill, if you
have ingested alcohol, medication or ille-
gal drugs, do not use the device since you
are not in a condition to use it safely.
• Never mow when other people, particu-
larly children, or animals are in the vicinity.
• Remember that the operator or user is
responsible for accidents involving other
people or their property.
Maintenance
• Only those maintenance and fault elimi-
nation tasks described here may be car-
ried out. Any other tasks must be com-
pleted by a specialist.
• Check all screws regularly to ensure that
they sit tight.
• Only use original replacement parts. Only
these spare parts are designed and suita-
ble for the device. Other replacement
parts will not only lead to an invalidation of
the warranty, they may also endanger you
and your environment.
Storage and transportation
• Always store the device in a dry location.
• Protect the device from becoming dam-
aged prior to transport.
• Always carry the unit with the handle,
never grasp the cutting mechanism.
Tool-specific notes
• Before starting work check the area and
remove all objects which may damage the
cutting mechanism.
• Always ensure sufficient distance to the
cutting mechanism.
• Only use unit at walking speed.
• Only work with good light and visibility.
• The clothing of the operator should be
close-fitting. Avoid wearing loosely fitting
clothing. Wear sturdy footwear and long
work trousers.
• Ensure that no other people or animals
are located in the area you are working in.
• When changing direction on a slope, be
particularly careful.
• Always work at right angles to the slope.
• Pay attention when walking backwards.

Mounting the handle

– Connect the handle (1) and the intermedi-
ate sections (2) using the cross-headed
screws and toggle nuts and screw
together.
– Connect the lower handle section (3)
using the cross-headed screws and tog-
gle nuts to the intermediate sections (2)
and screw together.

– Press the lower sections of the handle
together and slot into the bolts (9).
– Secure lower handle section with R cotter
pins (10).
