WATER BLEEDING FROM THE FUEL SUPPLY CIRCUIT
Proceed as follows if the "water in fuel"
warning light comes on (on vehicles whe-
re this function is provided) :
IMPORTANT
Carry out the operation with the engine
off. Ignition key removed, wait at least
6 minutes before disconnecting the
negative battery cable.
1 - Carry out the operation with the engine
cold.
2 - Do not come into contact with hot
engine parts and fuel. Wear gloves and
protective clothing suitables.
3 - Prepare a container with appropriate
capacity under the fuel filter (A fig.
alongside).
4 - Remove the water presence sensor
(B) fig. alongside. Allow the fuel mixed
with water to flow into the container until
only compliant fuel flows out.
5 - Fit the water presence sensor (B) fig.
alongside.
IMPORTANT
Thoroughly dry any fuel residues befo-
re starting the engine.
IMPORTANT
Dispose of non-compliant fuel in com-
pliance with the laws in force.

Water bleeding must be performed im-
mediately after using the engine in the
event of freezing ambient temperatu-
res.

Do not use the starter motor to try to
bleed water from the fuel circuit.

Do not loosen high-pressure pipe
unions of the supply circuit (common
rail system).
