1.6 Potential problems and how to tackle them

Chimney fire may occur upon the improper cleaning of the chimney, the use of
inappropriate fuels (e.g. excessively wet wood) or the inadequate setting of the
burning air. In such cases, close the burning air at the fire, and call the fire service.

Operate the fire-place on a
low heating level according

a few hours. Then heat up

a few hours.

examined by an expert
Chimney draught shall

be at least 12 Pa, max.
for a short time 15 Pa.
Check the tightness of

your chimney and also
that the doors of other
fire-places leading to the
same chimney are
closed and sealed
properly. Make sure that
the chimney-cleaning
joints are sealed proper-
ly.
All the smoke tube joints

must be well sealed and
fireproof-isolated
Check the sealing, close

the door properly. May
have to have the tighten-
ing flap renewed.
Use well dried wood

only.
