heating cable may not be wound around the pipe.
Only any leftover length may be wound around the pipe at the end area.
Danger!
• Do not use any straps or metal connectors to fix the heating cable in place.
• Always use good quality insulation tape (PVC tape) with a temperature
resistance of at least 80 °C for mounting. Other adhesive tapes can be
deformed by normal cable operating temperatures, potentially leading to
overheating, fire or electric shock.
• If laying the end of the heating cable wrapped around the pipe, the di-
stance between the loops must be at least 50 mm. (Fig. 8)
• The heating cable must not be in contact with itself or a second heating
cable at any point. (Fig. 3)
10. In order to secure the frost protection in extremely cold weather conditions or
to minimise energy consumption, the pipe and the heating cable should be
insulated. The pipe / heating cable can be insulated using non-combustible
mineral wool or foam insulation (fig. 9).
Danger!
• Fire hazard! Only non-flammable pipe insulation must be used. (Fig. 11)
• The insulation must be no thicker than 13 mm. Inordinate insulation of the heating cable leads to overheating.
The insulation mounted on the pipe/heating cable must also be placed over the thermostat in the same thickness. This ensures that the
same temperature is maintained in all pipe sections. (Fig. 10)
11. The insulation must be protected with an additional water-tight sheath which is laid helically over the insulation to prevent moi-
sture ingress.
4. Operation
Connect the plug to the socket to start operation.
Remove the plug from the socket to end operation.
5. Maintenance and repairs
The heating cable must be checked before every use. The heating cable and the connection to the socket must be inspected for signs of
damage and the power supply checked for proper operation. If the heating cable is cut, damaged, has been immersed in water, shows
signs of charring or cracking or is damaged in any way, it must no longer be used and should be removed. The heating cable should also
be checked for animal bites and invading foreign bodies such as splinters.
The heating cable contains no serviceable parts.
