8. Verify that the attic ladder meets local building codes, including fire separation requirements.
9. If the house has roof trusses, do not cut the trusses (ceiling joists) without consulting an engineer for approval.
10. Before installation, read all the instruction labels on the attic ladder shown in Figure 1.
11. The lag screws provided for the permanent installation are intended for ceilings constructed of standard 2"
nominal wood joists as specified in the APPENDIX. Ceilings constructed with other materials may require
different fasteners. Consult an engineer or building construction expert when installing in other types of ceiling
construction.
12. Follow the "Adjust Ladder Length" instructions in Step 5 for proper trimming and shoe installation before standing
on the ladder's climbing section.
13. Lubricate (spray silicon recommended) the pivot points of the right and left folding arm mechanisms (spreader bar
assemblies) as needed to provide smooth, long-lasting operation.
14. After initial installation, check all fasteners before use. (At spreader bars, hinge, frame, ladder section
connections, adjustable shoes and door).
Note: Alterna vely, power tools may be used to expedite installa on.
