SAFETY GUIDELINES CONT...
GENERAL OPERATION GUIDELINES
NOTE: The installation of the unit shall be in accordance with the regulations of the authorities
having jurisdiction.
Follow all applicable codes while the heater is in use.
WARNING: Never use the Radiant Heater in rooms and areas where aerosol cans, gasoline, and
paint thinner, or other highly flammable materials are located.
WARNING: Minimum safe distances to combustible materials listed in the specifications and
clearances section on page 1-2 must be observed while the heater is in operation. If codes require
different distances, use whichever is larger. Heaters used close to large pieces of fabric, curtains or
other similar materials must be situated at a safe distance from those objects.
DANGER! For use in well-ventilated areas only. See warning on previous page.
Supply the Radiant Heater with the proper voltage as specified on the identification plate.
WARNING: Use the Radiant Heater on level and non-combustible surfaces only to avoid a fire
hazard.
When you move or store the Radiant Heater, maintain it in a level position in order to avoid fuel
loss.
DANGER! Keep children and animals away from the Radiant Heater.
Disconnect the Radiant Heater from electrical power when it is not in use. NOTE: Allow it
to complete the post-purge cycle after the power button has been placed in the off position.
When heater operation is controlled by another device (like a thermostat or a timer), the heater can
turn on at any time. Please be aware of this and observe all safety precautions.
WARNING: Never place the Radiant Heater in unoccupied or unattended areas.
WARNING: Never use this radiant heater for a residential application.
Never block vents.
When the heater is in use and connected to the power supply, it should never be moved, handled,
or refilled; and no maintenance should be performed on it.
Smoke that is produced from the first combustion is due to the evaporation of organic materials
(ceramic) present in the combustion chamber and anti-corrosion oil present on the surfaces of
the burner. After a few minutes this will stop.
The allowable ambient temperature range for operating the heater is: -20°F (-29°C) to +80°F
(27°C). NOTE: If the heater will be operated in ambient environments below 35°F (2°C), adding an
additive to the fuel to prevent gelling is recommended.
WARNING: This appliance is equipped with a three-prong (grounding) plug for your
protection against electric shock hazard and should be plugged directly into a grounded three-
prong receptacle. Use only extension cords with three wires that connect to a grounded plug.
