3. GENERAL SAFETY RULES.
WARNING: These instructions have been developed to facilitate the proper installation, operation
and maintenance of the equipment. Read the entire manual carefully before using the equipment, in
order to understand its features and reduce risks during its operation. Make sure you read and
understand all instructions, and to pay attention to all warnings and precautions throughout this manual.
Failure to follow the instructions contained in this manual may result in electric shock, fire and/or
serious personal injury.
WORK AREA.
 Keep your work area clean and well lit. Messy tables and dark areas may cause accidents.
 Do not use the machine in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids,
gases or dust. The electric tool generates sparks that may cause fires.
 Make sure observers, children and visitors are away from the machine while you are working with it.
Distractions can make you lose control.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY.
WARNING:
 Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators and refrigerators. There is an
increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded.
 Do not expose the machine to rain or wet conditions. The entry of water into the machine will
increase the risk of electric shock.
 Do not misuse the cable. Never use the cable to carry the tool, and never pull the cable out of the
outlet. Keep the cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts. Replace damaged cables
immediately. Damaged cables increase the risk of electric shock.
 When using the machine outdoors, use an outdoor extension cord. These extensions are designed
to work outdoors and reduce the risk of electric shock.
 Damaged power cords must be replaced by the manufacturer or its representative.
PERSONAL SAFETY.
 Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when using the machine. Do not use it
if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of distraction
while working with the machine can result in serious injury.
 Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away
from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be trapped by moving parts.
 Avoid accidental starting. Make sure the switch (7) is in the OFF position before plugging in the
machine. Plugging machines with the switch in the ON position may cause.
 Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Dust mask, non-
slip safety shoes, helmet or hearing protection must be worn when necessary.
 Before connecting the machine to a power source (receptacle, outlet, etc.) make sure that the
voltage provided is the same as the one mentioned on the technical data plate of the machine. A
power source greater than that specified for the machine can cause serious injury to the user, as
well as equipment damage.
