5.8 CLEANING
Impeller cleaning is important when storing pump for long periods of time. It is also
advisable as part of regular maintenance checks.
NOTE
Do not use a pressure washer to clean this product. Delicate electrical
components may be damaged.
1.
Allow engine to cool before washing. Wash the engine and pump by hand,
being careful to prevent water from entering the air cleaner or muffler
opening. Keep water away from controls.
2.
Wipe dry all available surfaces.
3.
Fill the pump chamber with clean, fresh water, start engine outdoors, and
let it run until it reaches normal operating temperature to evaporate external
water. (Dry operation will damage pump seal.) Be sure the pump chamber
is filled with water before starting the engine.
4.
Stop the engine and allow it to cool.
5.
Remove the pump drain plug. Flush the pump with clean fresh water. Allow
water to drain then reinstall drain plug.
6.
Allow pump to dry. Lubricate controls with a silicon spray lubricant.
