Thecoverof the manualdispenser willopenduringthe
washcycle.If you are usingSmartDispense
TM,
leavethe
coverofthe manualdispenser openbeforestartingthe
cycle.
Forthe manualdispenser, Cascade ®Automatic
Dishwashing Detergents havebeenapproved. Y oumay use
powder, l iquid,gel packets or tabletsin this dispenser. It is
importantto keeppowdereddetergentsand tabletsfresh
and dry sothey don'tloseeffectiveness. Therefore, do not
put detergentintothe manualdispenser u ntil you areready
to washdishes.
Forheavilysoiledloads,usea bit moredetergent.Forwater
temperatures above140°F, usea bit lessdetergent.

Theamountof detergentto usedependson whetheryour
water ishardor soft.With hardwater,you needextra
detergent.With softwater,you needlessdetergent.
Protectyourdishesand dishwasher b y contactingyour
water departmentand askinghow hardyour water is.
Twelve or moregrainsis extremelyhardwater.A water
softeneris recommended. Withoutit, limecan buildup in
thewater valve,which couldstickwhileopen and cause
flooding. T oomuchdetergentwith soft watercan cause
a permanent c loudiness of glassware, c alledetching.
Usethe informationin the tablebelowas a guideto
determine the amount of automaticdishwasher d etergent
to placein the dispenser.
Whenusingautomaticdishwashing detergentpackets
or tablets,simplyplaceone in the mainwash sectionand
closethe cover.
NOTE; Usinga detergent t hat isnot specificallg designed
for dishwashers w ill causethedishwasher t o fillwith suds.
Duringoperation, t hesesudswillspillout ofthe dishwasher
vents,covering thekitchenfloorandmakingthefloorwet.
Because so many detergentcontainerslookalike,store
thedishwasherdetergentin a separatespacefrom all
othercleaners. S howanyonewho may usethe dishwasher
thecorrectdetergentand whereit isstored.
Whiletherewill be no lastingdamageto the dishwasher,
yourdisheswill not getcleanusinga dishwashing
detergent t hat isnotformulatedto workwith dishwashers.
